QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS & HACCP DEVELOPMENT

GUIDANCE ON REGULATORY AND FOOD LAW ISSUES

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & PROJECT MANAGEMENT

My 9 years working as a retail development manager has enabled me to understand the complex process of translating category plans into successful new product launches. I can support client’s existing new product development resources and advise on specific aspects such as product paneling, specification writing and transit testing.

CUSTOMER INSIGHT & MARKET ANALYSIS

I have previously run consumer panels on behalf of my clients and can assist with retail audits to help clients develop insight into market trends and competitor activity.

SPECIFICATION WRITING

I have considerable experience in the preparation of retail product specifications using Micros web-based specification packages such as Tesco Technical Library and WRSpec and can provide timely help writing and checking specifications to ensure provision of accurate pack copy information.

VACCP & TACCP PLAN DEVELOPMENT

Food fraud & food defence management systems are now required as part of GFSI Certification standards such as BRC v8 and FSSC 22000. Manufacturers need to have undertaken risk assessment, defined appropriate monitoring measures and implemented these via a plan.

How to comply with these relatively new requirements is still not widely and clearly understood. Not surprising when they encompass issues as diverse as cyber-crime and deliberate mislabeling of food for commercial gain.

Manufacturers have so far had a relatively “easy ride” in the areas of food defence and food fraud. This is because BRC auditors themselves had not been equipped with sufficient knowledge to challenge what they were presented with during certification audits. This is not going to continue to be the case so, if you have concerns that your VACCP or TACCP systems aren’t sufficiently robust, please get in contact.
